Linux Systems Administrator
The Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for design, deployment, and maintenance of physical and virtual Linux servers.
Day to day functions include the following:
- Maintain Linux-based servers
- Identify potential issues before they happen, and propose timely and cost-effective solutions
- Update systems periodically
- Coordinate with Windows Systems Administrator in identifying issues & maintaining network (wired & wireless)
Secondary Duties:
- Assist Windows Systems administrator
- Assist with end-user support
Education/Experience
- LPIC Level 1 or Linux+ certifications required
- LPIC Level 2 preferred
- Previous experience managing multiple mission critical Linux systems
Skills/Knowledge
- Proven knowledge of Linux systems, including File System Hierarchy, Custom Kernels and Kernel modules
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking (Cisco)
- Detail-oriented
- Understanding of SIP based telephony a plus
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies, with an emphasis on VMWare solutions
- Ability to think quickly
- Motivated to self-educate
